Boxes and boxes filled with QUARTETnary
Dear backers, dear silly scientists,
We have been hard at work on the fulfilment of your rewards, so please read on for a shipping update!
In addition, now that some of you have received (and played!) QUARTETnary, you can once again help Iris out by responding to the 'After playing QUARTETnary'-survey, which will be used in a future scientific publication: https://forms.gle/pcsehfppLSK3pr6n9. More details below!
We are very happy to say that we have almost shipped all orders to the EU! Italy is the last EU country we're sorting out right now! At the same time, we have started on orders to Switzerland and the UK and as soon as that is done, we will be tackling the daunting mountain of orders from the US!
As such, everyone in the EU should have received their game or at least a shipping confirmation at this point. If you are in the EU and haven't received your order by 15 November, drop us an e-mail at [email protected] so we can figure out what went wrong!
Not long now until everyone has their games! Fingers crossed we can complete the Kickstarter fulfilment before the holidays!
Frankly, the amount of boxes is bordering on ridiculous 😅
Remember Iris wanted your help to write a scientific paper? Well, you really came through! We received a whopping 118 responses to the 'Before playing QUARTETnary'-survey, which is definitely enough to do some fun statistics and start analysing your knowledge on the geological time scale before you had ever played QUARTETnary.
BUT! To really quantify if QUARTETnary helps with learning and retaining fun and fabulous facts about the Earth, we of course need your input on our 'After playing QUARTETnary'-survey, which is open now!
With your help, Iris will craft a beautiful paper on QUARTETnary and maybe she will even get a (dare we dream?) permanent job in academia in the end! Who knows? It's all down to you (no pressure), so get cracking with filling in this survey after you've played QUARTETnary!

It's finally here! An actual, physical, beautiful, perfect copy of QUARTETnary!

Exciting news: QUARTETnary is here!!!
Read on for an update on shipping(!!), a new shiny version of our website including the QUARTETnary Geological Time Scale of Kickstarter Backers, and important deadlines for filling in the 'Before playing QUARTETnary' paper survey and Backerkit survey to fulfil your rewards!
Although we had expected them a day later, a delivery driver surprised Ronnie on August 8 by dropping over 2000 games on his doorstep!
Oh oh, this is going to take a while to get inside...
But not to worry! Ronnie took it like a champ! After a few stressful hours of endlessly walking to and fro to get the games inside his house (Iris would have helped if - you know - she had been in the country...), Ronnie finally had the chance to take a sneak peek at the final product.
Behold: QUARTETnary!
We made a thing!
This means we will start shipping!
Since it's just Ronnie fulfilling the Kickstarter orders (again, Iris would totally help if it weren't for the fact she is in a different country altogether), shipping will roll out slowly as we figure out how the packaging works for each country (again those damn international laws!). We will start by shipping to Germany and then move on to shipping to the Netherlands and other countries. This means we are well on schedule for shipping all Kickstarter orders by November, as initially promised! Whoop whoop!
When your order gets shipped, you will receive an e-mail from [email protected] with a track-and-trace code and the invoice of your order (of course you have already paid; this is just a receipt for tax regulation thingies).
So keep an eye out for e-mails from us and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
And don't forget to send us messages, pictures, videos, or whatever-you-wants when you receive QUARTETnary!! We are dying to know what you think of it and see you play it!!
We finally managed to do a big website update, so we now have a beautiful page dedicated to QUARTETnary, taking content from both the Kickstarter and - excitingly! - the informational booklet of the game. Have a look at the new page and spot your name in the QUARTETnary Geological Time Scale of Kickstarter Backers!
Remember that Iris would like some help from you to write a paper on QUARTETnary? Well, now that you almost have QUARTETnary in your hands, it's time to start closing the 'Before playing QUARTETnary'-survey.
There are still 16 rogues amongst you who haven't filled in their Backerkit survey. You probably guessed this, but without your address we cannot possibly send you a copy of QUARTETnary! And we do want everyone who backed the Kickstarter to get their rewards! Even if you only pledged for digital awards (as a Pretty Plant or Brilliant Bacteria) it would be really useful for us (admin-wise) if you could fill in the survey so we have your details and can give you your digital rewards!

Dear backers, dear silly scientists,
We have some pretty major updates for you! Read on to see how far we are with the production of QUARTETnary (pretty far!), how you can help Iris to write a scientific article, and what your 'Thank you' reward on the website will look like!
BREAKING NEWS!
QUARTETnary is being printed in August! We have approved all the digital proofs and - if all goes to plan - many shiny copies of QUARTETnary will be delivered to us in August!!
Once we have received the pallets full of games, we can finalise our shipping strategy and figure out the different shipping boxes needed for different reward tiers and countries (there are all kinds of rules on the type of cardboard for international shipping! Argh!).
This means we anticipate shipping the first games in October or perhaps even September! Aaaahhh! We then hope to fulfil all Kickstarter orders by November: right in time for Christmas and exactly on schedule! Isn't this exciting?! We can't wait to hold the first physical copies of QUARTETnary in our hands and share them with you!
Like the true scientist she is, Iris wants to write a scientific article about QUARTETnary to boost her publication list! Because nobody is going to give her a professorship for making an awesome sciency game (even though they totally should). Scientific articles are what counts.
So, we are going to write a paper about QUARTETnary!
But in order to do that, WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We want to quantify how educational QUARTETnary is (and how fun!), so we would like you to fill in a survey before playing QUARTETnary to get a feel for your current knowledge on the geological time scale and a survey after you have played QUARTETnary a few times to see if you have improved.
We will send the 'After playing QUARTETnary'-survey once everyone has received their game and has had the chance to play it a few times.
Oh, and don't let the questions in the survey scare you - Iris also wouldn't be able to answer them out of the top of her head! Part of our aim is testing your intuitive knowledge on the geological time scale. So, any answer you give would be much appreciated and very valuable for our research. Thanks!
Talking about thanks, all you brilliant bacteria and more complex forms of life have pledged to get the reward of being publicly thanked on our website! To that end, we have made a (geological) time scale of all the Kickstarter backers who wanted to be included in this timeline on our website. The first backers are in the purple hues of the Hadean and the last minute ones are in the yellows of the Cenozoic. You can check out the time scale at the end of this project update. Do you like it? 'Cause we love it! 😍
The QUARTETnary page of our website is still in development, but once we make it live, you can bet that this Thank You Time Scale will feature prominently!

If you want to be part of the QUARTETnary geological 'Thank you!' time scale on our website, you need to fill in your Backerkit survey by May 31 at the latest!
So, please check your mailboxes (and spam!) for the Backerkit survey if you haven't filled it in yet.

Everyone who has opted in will become part of QUARTETnary history with the earliest backers residing in the purples and pinks of the Hadean and Archean and the last-minute backers hanging out in the yellows of the Cenozoic.

In other news, we have collected all the names for the booklet and sent them on to Lucia. She is finalising the designs for the cards, box, and booklet as we speak, so that we are sure to make the deadline of our printer in June!

Dear backers, dear silly scientists,
Important! This is your last chance to submit a name for the booklet of QUARTETnary! The deadline was actually today (May 3), but we noticed that some of you have not yet filled in your survey and we want to give everyone a chance to get the reward they backed for. So, please, please, please(!) fill in your Backerkit survey by May 10 at the very latest!
After that date, we need to send everything to the printer. We have paid the printer now, so ... no going back now!
So, please check your mailboxes (and spam!) for the Backerkit survey if you haven't filled it in yet.

Also note: some of you submitted a name that did not quite follow the guidelines for the names in the booklet. We have sent those people a message via Kickstarter, so if you are busy checking your mail anyway, keep an eye out for that too!
We are finalising the booklet (hence the request for names), so here is a little sneak peek of what you can expect. Note that the text is still subject to change!

And then one last time for the people in the back, just to be 100% clear: if you do not fill in your Backerkit survey by May 10 (or reply to our requests to change your submitted name), we cannot put your name in the booklet. So fill it in!
