Dear backers, dear silly scientists,
Important! This is your last chance to submit a name for the booklet of QUARTETnary! The deadline was actually today (May 3), but we noticed that some of you have not yet filled in your survey and we want to give everyone a chance to get the reward they backed for. So, please, please, please(!) fill in your Backerkit survey by May 10 at the very latest!
After that date, we need to send everything to the printer. We have paid the printer now, so ... no going back now!
So, please check your mailboxes (and spam!) for the Backerkit survey if you haven't filled it in yet.
Can't find the Backerkit e-mail? Don't worry! You can also fill in your Backerkit survey here: quartetnary.backerkit.com.
Also note: some of you submitted a name that did not quite follow the guidelines for the names in the booklet. We have sent those people a message via Kickstarter, so if you are busy checking your mail anyway, keep an eye out for that too!
We are finalising the booklet (hence the request for names), so here is a little sneak peek of what you can expect. Note that the text is still subject to change!
Can you imagine flicking through the entire booklet and seeing all the time units and their colours?!
And then one last time for the people in the back, just to be 100% clear: if you do not fill in your Backerkit survey by May 10 (or reply to our requests to change your submitted name), we cannot put your name in the booklet. So fill it in!

Backerkit surveys & geoscience game night

Dear backers, dear silly scientists,
Big news: we have officially confirmed the order with our printer Cartamundi! This means our timeline for production is now fixed and we have a strict deadline to provide all the game files to Cartamundi, so QUARTETnary can be printed in time. And that means it's time for...
You should have received a survey from Backerkit (check you emails! check your spam!), which we ask you to fill in as soon as possible to help us stay on track for production.
We use these surveys to collect important data like your shipping address and of course which names you want to put in the booklet if you pledged for that reward!
Note that the cut-off date for submitting your desired name to be printed in the booklet is 3 May 2024. After this date, we can no longer accept names, since we are now tied to a production timeline. So make sure to submit your name in time!! See below (or our FAQ) for the guidelines concerning the names you may submit for the booklet.
Another reason to fill in the Backerkit survey: you will get access to the digital QUARTETnary colouring book if you backed that reward.
We can't wait to see your interpretations of QUARTETnary art! Make sure to tag us on instagram with your creations!
Can't wait to play QUARTETnary? Neither can we! You're in luck if you happen to go to the EGU conference next week, as we will be there! If you want a preview of QUARTETnary and play with our fabulous prototypes, make sure to come to the EGU Geoscience Game Night on Wednesday, April 17 at 18:00h.
Additionally, if you run into Iris at EGU (or anywhere else, really), make sure to ask her for a QUARTETnary sticker!

We only accept individual names (first name + last name, e.g., 'Ronnie Peskens'), household or family names ('Family' + last name, e.g., 'Family Perez-Diaz'), and names of officially recognised and/or established businesses and societies (e.g., 'European Geosciences Union'). Combined (first) names (e.g., 'Julia & Max') are not allowed.
If you have a Dr. or Prof. title, you are welcome to include it in your name if you want (e.g., 'Dr. Iris van Zelst'). We do not accept any other titles and we will check if you truly possess these titles before printing them.
Names containing any sexual, inappropriate, or other kind of harmful or offensive content are strictly prohibited. We have the right to refuse any name and request a change.
In the booklet, the names will be ordered roughly alphabetically according to first name (or in the case of family names, last name). Multiple names bought by the same backer will appear together regardless of alphabetical order.
The deadline for submitting your name in the booklet is 3 May 2024!

Dear backers, dear silly scientists,
Thank you so much for an incredible Kickstarter campaign! Your support means the world to us and we are blown away by your enthusiasm! You absolutely smashed our goal, so QUARTETnary will become a reality very soon!
While you were doing your goal smashing, you also reached (and far exceeded!) the €15000 milestone, thereby revealing the Devonian quartet! Check out the cute animals that first appeared during this time period (and have a look at our instagram for an image with higher resolution).
Look at these cards! Don't you love the foresty vibes?
Within the next few weeks, you will get an email from us with a Backerkit survey where you can fill in your shipping details and tell us which name you would like to have in the booklet! You will also get the digital colouring book after you have filled in your Backerkit survey if you are a Pretty Plant or above. Once we have assembled all your names and put them in the booklet, we can send everything to the printer.
So keep an eye on your inbox!
Meanwhile, we will add the last finishing touches to the cards and finalise the text and design of the booklet.
We will also start working on the 'QUARTETnary time scale', which will feature the names of all our Kickstarter backers on our website!
If you backed any of the reward tiers (from Brilliant Bacteria upwards), your reward includes a shoutout on our website. We really want to thank you in a fun, silly way so we will make our own QUARTETnary time scale that includes the names of our Kickstarter backers (i.e., the user names taken directly from your Kickstarter account) in rough chronological order.
We will put this time scale on our website as a thank you. It will be a .png file (so the text is not searchable or findable on the website) and of course we will also send you the final QUARTETnary time scale via a project update like this one. If you do not want to have your name on our website, please let us know by 31 March 2024 by shooting us a message on Kickstarter or contacting us at [email protected].

Big news: there is only a little over a week to go on the Kickstarter campaign!!
We are quite close to our next milestone of €15,000 when we will reveal the Devonian quartet. Spread the word of QUARTETnary to all the silly scientists you know and help unlock these beautiful cards!

Not everything went smoothly when we filmed the different videos for this Kickstarter campaign! There was a lot of laughter and ... yes, okay, there were some bloopers. Watch the video below for a peek behind the scenes and an array of silly scientists doing silly things!
And that's all for now. One more week until the end of an epic (geological?) era. Let's see how far we can take this Kickstarter and go out with a bang!

You did it! You unlocked two new milestones in our Kickstarter campaign! Feast your eyes on the Hadean and Ordovician cards (and check out our instagram if you want to see them in higher resolution)!
What is your favourite card?
As you can see, the Devonian quartet is still unlocked! But we promise you: the cards are so pretty, you want to see them! Spread the word about QUARTETnary to your family, friends, colleagues, and enemies to unlock the Devonian cards as soon as possible!
